Olympic Feat

in dreams

I had a dream I swam all the way to Mexico. Along the way I saw amazing sea creatures and had a fantastic time. I woke up and realized Mexico was on the border to the US. Reality sucks.

Edit: What a fucking retarded post

Sharing a common enemy

in politics

Segregation stems from many things, namely racism and sexism. Cities can be given to people of certain culture, nationality, or sexual preference. I refrain from calling people racist or sexist if “different” people make them uncomfortable. You cross this line when you fail to make an attempt to accept them and outright shun them.

In order to unite as people, we need something to collectively disagree with. This is why wars will always exist. This is why our political parties have divided into two. As long as questions with two answers can be asked, people will argue their point louder than the opposing party.

“Do you accept gay marriage?”

“Are you for the war?”

“Do the poor need tax breaks?”

All questions have answers that can be backed fairly reasonably. But as these questions can only be responded in one of two ways, people who agree with each other will segregate themselves from people who don’t. That’s why we have conservative and liberal towns and states.

People need to have an answer to a question. We like to be right. We want to know our answers are right. We start surrounding ourselves with people similar in opinion so that while no correct answer actually exists, we can make it feel like one does. And that it’s ours.

Intimidation

in philosophy

If you fear others knowing someone is better than you. Defending yourself with insults will only convince others of your inferiority. Accept humility, there is no shame in being a student to someone you’ve never denounced.

A Depressing Thought

in perspective

You know how when you watch the movie a second time, you know what’s going to happen, but you so desperately hope it doesn’t? It’s odd that it is so commonplace for your brain to ignore logic and fight the inevitable. And even having this understanding, all of us will continue to take harder paths all in the name of faith.

Rule: REALLY. No free lunch

in rules

So I found a post on craigslist for a 2005 civic for $4700. I figured I’d bite, I have nothing to lose. Who knows, maybe the battery died (hybrid vehicle) and he was too lazy to get a new one or something. I’d buy the car, fit it with a new battery and hopefully save a little.

I then get a reply that looks like this:

I apologize for the delay, I’m in the military and now I am in United Kingdom and that’s why I couldn’t reply in time. Anyway, thank you for your interest in buying the car. Why is the price so low? I am selling the car because I am here in UK with my work, and my regiment will be deployed in three weeks in Iraq and I think I’ll stay there for a whi…

LOL OK.

By the way, copy and pasting your scam e-mails fails
